It is one of the biggest theaters in Latvia. The theater was founded in 1919. From 1940 to 1989 it was known as Drama Theater and in 1989, the theater was given back its original name. It was completely restored and reopened in 2004. It showcases a variety of popular and exceptional Latvian theatrical performances. The theater has been always famous for its troupe, consisting of the best Latvian actors.
